Next week, to coincide with National Book Week, I will be holding a book fair within school. In line with the new National Curriculum, we will be focusing on promoting a love of poetry and prose. The children will be reading a variety of books, reciting poetry, participating in drama sessions and writing their own poems.
The Travelling Book Company will be coming to school on Monday 2nd March and will be with us throughout the week for the children to purchase books. Please send money in a sealed envelope with your child’s name on the front and we will help your child select a book and return the change. The book tokens may also be used to purchase books.
The book shop will be open from 3 – 4pm Tuesday and Thursday, giving you the opportunity to purchase books with your child if you prefer. Alternatively, please find enclosed an order form which you can complete and return to school.
On Friday the school will be having a dressing up day with the topic being ‘book characters’. All the staff will be dressing up and it should be a fun day with some very strange looking teachers!! Please send your child in an appropriate book character costume - let your imaginations run wild!!!
We are all looking forward to the forthcoming week and hope that you will be able to join in with the fun and continue to encourage your child to develop a love of reading and writing.
Yours sincerely,
Beverley Elliott
Deputy Headteacher
