English

This week, we have two books to explore as part of our English home learning.

The first book is called Jellyfish Shoes and is accessed as an e.book on the oxford owls website by following this link Jellyfish Shoes. We have included a set of VIPERS questions for you to share together or, if you prefer some formal written comprehension questions, we have included these too. Some of the children might remember exploring part of this book in school earlier in the year but not many, will have read it all the way through. Remember, if the text is a little tricky for your child to read themselves, it is just as valuable to read the book to them and let them answer the questions through conversation.

Our second book is The Huge Bag of Worries by Virginia Ironside; there are several versions of this book being read aloud on Youtube, here is a link to one: The Huge Bag of Worries. We explore this book in school as part of our transition work at this time of the academic year. We have included lots of activity sheets this week, covering a wide range of grammar and also a book review.

There is also a sheet that asks the children to draw what is in their own bag of worries; it might be helpful to complete this after exploring the PSD/Science work on this week's home learning page. Remember, the children don't have to have a worry, we are just providing the opportunity to share any worries they may have, explain that it is natural to be worried at times and if nothing else, enjoy a good story!!

We hope you enjoy having lots of short activities this week.
