Curriculum Evening Powerpoint Summer Term

Plants - We really enjoyed using the 'Now Press Play' headsets outside where we listened carefully to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and followed the directions to act out the story. We have been thinking very carefully about seeds and what they need to grow. We read a story called 'Fran's Flower' where Fran wondered why her seed would not grow when she fed it food from the fridge. We have also read Eric Carle's 'The Tiny Seed', 'Jasper's Beanstalk' and a bible story called 'The Mustard Seed'. We have particularly enjoyed planting our own Sunflower Seeds and we are going to take very good care of them in hope that they will start to grow.

Babies/Me Now and Then - We were very lucky to have two real babies brought into Nursery. Delphine was very proud to show off her baby brother Byron and Penny was very proud to show off her baby sister Margot. We thought very carefully beforehand about what we wanted to find out about babies and thought of a list of questions to ask their Mummy's. We have since been enjoying babies in our home corner and role play baby clinic. Thank you for sending in photographs of your child when they were a baby we had great fun trying to work out who was who and had good discussions about how the children have changed.

Chicks Day 4 and 5: We have been closely observing our chicks as they sleep and eat. We have also helped to change their food and water! Our mummies and daddies also liked looking at them during Stay and Play on Friday.

Chicks Day Three: This morning in Nursery we were soooooo eggcited!! Three chicks had hatched overnight...one girl and two boys (we know which is which by their colour...the girls are brown and the boys are yellow) and by the end of the day we had four chilcks; one girl and three boys. One more egg has cracked so hopefully there will be at least one more chick tomrrow.

Chicks Day Two: Today one of the eggs has started to crack. It was amazing to watch and if we listened very carefully we could hear it cheeping inside the egg.

Chicks - Day One: We had ten eggs arrive in Nursery today. We are all very excited to see what may be inside the eggs. Some ideas were...chicks, dragons, dinosaurs! We are going to wait patiently over the next few days and examine them carefully to see what happens.

Our topic for the second Spring Term is NURSERY RHYMES!  We are going to have lots of fun singing nursery rhymes and thinking about different nursery rhyme characters.

There are lots of other things going on this half-term too such as World Book Day (1st March 2018), a special Mother's Day Stay and Play Session (9th March 2018) and an Easter Coffee Morning/Open Morning (27th March 2018).

Parents' Evening is also taking place on 5th and 6th March 2018.

Egg Decorating Competition: Well done everyone who took part in this competition your entries were all EGGcellent!! Miss Smyth and Mr Moore had a tough job deciding on a winner as they were all fantastic! Well done to Albert and Louie who were awarded wth a prize.

Easter Egg Hunt: The children helped to write a letter to the Easter Bunny to ask if we could have some chocolate eggs in Nursery. We were delighted the next day when a basket arrived with a golden egg, some bunny ears and a letter. The letter was from the Easter Bunny and it told us some eggs had been left in the forest area. We had to go on the hunt and use our eyes, find three eggs to win a prize! Everybody won a prize and Emilia, Delphine and Frankie won a special prize as they found the golden eggs!

We hope that all you special Mummy's enjoyed your special pampering today...the children definitely loved baking, doing your hair and nails and making you a special badge.  Please take a look through the photographs below and we hope that you have a lovely Mother's Day on Sunday!

The Story of Mr Tongue: Mr Tongue is a story which promtoes awareness of sounds and movements involved in spoken language. You could read the story with your child and make tongue movements as you go along. You could encourage your child tro join in they can tell the story if they want to. The idea is to make tongue practise as much fun as possible!
