Phonics

Review phonemes: oo/oo (oo in moon and oo in book).

Tricky words: her, was, you . Can you recognise them? Spell? Put into a sentence?

Discuss phoneme and grapheme. Children to write the grapheme down – encourage cursive font. Children to write down oo words called out: Book, boot, took, shoot, foot, root

Children to choose which (oo) sound each word belongs to. (stand up/sit down)

Book     boot      took     shoot    foot      root

Write the sentence: He took my book on the roof.

Recap on the subtraction symbol and what it means.

Watch the Number blocks episode-“What’s the Difference?”  BBC iPlayer - Numberblocks - Series 3: Whats the Difference?

Discuss the relationship between the difference and subtraction. Display a number line and identify 2 numbers on the line. How we would we find out the difference?

Skittles/Bowling

Ask your grown up if you can borrow some plastic juice/water bottles (Remember to save any empty ones), and a small ball or rolled up pair of socks.

Place the bottles in a triangular shape on the floor and have a go at rolling the ball to knock down the bottles.
Count how many you knocked over. Can you write this number down?

Story time
Talk 4 Writing Story Time

Children to read the Billy Goats Gruff story map using the Talk 4 Writing actions.                                          

Focus on the words trip trap, see if the children can sound them out (segment) Encourage them to write down the letters. Can the children think of other words the author could have used instead e.g. clip clop, tip tap, bam boom. See if the children can identify the sounds in those words too.
