Phonics

Review phonemes for today: h, b, f, ff. Spell tricky words: was, you, they.

Discuss phoneme (the sound) and grapheme (letter name). Children to write the grapheme down.

Orally segment: biff, bat, fog, his. Children to write the initial sound that they can hear in each word: biff, bat, fog, his. Shared write whole words.

Sing traditional Nursery rhymes – which is your favourite? Can you change the words? E.g. Twinkle Twinkle Little Planet or Humpty Dumpty sat on a bridge (See video below)

Using the attached number line can you put a counter (or a coin, button, pasta piece) on a number. Can your child work out 2 more/ less than that number by moving the counter forwards/ backwards. Repeat for different numbers.

Take your grown up for a walk in your local area. Have a look around you to spot any numbers.
Numbers on house doors, numbers on cars or buses, road signs.

Children to read the Billy Goats Gruff story map using the Talk 4 Writing actions. Discuss the children’s likes and dislikes about the story.

Humpty Dumpty Rhyme

Listen to the Humpty Dumpty rhyme. Can you change some of the words to make a new version? "Humpty Dumpty sat on a …"

Use numberline 0-10 below. If you would like a further challenge the you could try the activity with numbers 0-20 using the other numberline.
