Welcome to Violet Class

Miss Hopkins & Mrs Guthrie

Welcome to our class page!

This half term we are learning about World War 2. The reasons for war are discussed in a very simple way and it is delivered with a large focus on history. The children will explore what life was like in Britain during World War 2 and how it is different to life now. We will also be looking at rationing, the need for growing fruit and vegetables, evacuation, the blitz and we will be finishing our topic with a VE day party. The children are thoroughly enjoying our history topic so far!

VIOLET CLASS DESTROYED!

When we walked into our classroom on Tuesday 3rd May something terrible had happened. We were transported back in time to Tuesday 3rd May 1941 to have an insight into what it would feel like during the war. We were shocked to find that our classroom had been 'bombed'. The classroom was dark, the windows were blacked out and we could see a huge hole in the ceiling. We could hear the loud air raid siren as we noticed the mess around the classroom. Tables were turned upside down and there were chairs everywhere! We spent the morning thinking about what we could see/hear and thinking about how the experience made us feel. After that we explored news paper texts and had a go at writing our own newspaper report to explain what had happened.

During the morning the children quickly realised that the classroom had been set up and it was all pretend. We worked together to ensure the classroom was back to normal by lunchtime.
