Review phonemes: air, ure. Recap tricky words: we, was, he. Can you recognise them? Spell? Put them into a sentence?

Children to write the trigraphs down.

Children to read words containing the air/ure trigraph:

air, fair, stair, chair, pair, secure, cure, pure, manure

Play 4 corners: air, ear, oi, ow (put one sound per corner of the room – go to the sound you can hear)

fair       chair     fear      beard    

coin       soil      cow       clown

Read the sentence:

She said the chair is secure.

Adult directed activity -  Literacy

Recap on the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff together. Discuss what happens at the beginning, on the middle and at the end of the story. Can your child draw a picture and write a short caption in the boxes to show their thoughts.

Home reading - child to read  (choose a book from Oxford owl linked to your child’s ability)

Mini Maths
Show children a vase with 11 flowers (picture below). How many do you think there are? Children to estimate and show the number on a number fan/fingers/write it down. How can we find out? Model counting the flowers but count one twice. Is that right? Repeat leaving one out. How can we make sure we count them all? Model putting flowers in a line and counting 1-1. Hold some objects in your hand and ask them to estimate how many. Can they count them correctly? How close was the estimate?

Outdoor play
How many steps

Go for a walk to a local destination such as a local shop, post box, park etc Ask your grown up if they have a pedometer to count your steps or count out loud with their help. How many steps to get to each place? Which one takes the most or least steps to get to?

Children to read the Billy Goats Gruff story map using the Talk 4 Writing actions.                                   

Is the Troll a good or bad character? Why? Try to encourage discussion through pointing out the grass may have belonged to the Troll.
