Adult directed activity -  Literacy

Listen to the Rainbow Princess Talk 4 Writing story on seesaw.
Show the story map (below) and encourage them to retell the story using the story map.

There are some puppet outlines for them to cut out (below), they could use lollipop sticks to attach to their puppets (Or tightly rolled up paper, or attach a strip of paper across the back where they can push their fingers under).
After that support them to retell the story using the puppets or they could use any suitable toys instead to represent the characters.

Have fun!

Home reading - child to read  (choose a book from Oxford owl linked to your child’s ability)

Lunch

Mini Maths
Show a square. Can your child tell you what shape it is and what its properties are? Give your child 4 pieces of a straw that are the same size - Can they make that shape? What do they need to think about?
Look at their shape, is it bigger or smaller than the one you have shown them?

Repeat this process with a triangle.

Ask your child to make a circle. Why can't we make a circle with the straws? Discuss it has curved sides.

Can they make an oblong? Discuss how we need 2 long sides and 2 short sides.

If I had 3 straws could I make a square? Why/why not?

Have a variety of straws/string etc in the environment. How many shapes can they make? How can they make a bigger/smaller shape?
