Shared read the CVC words: night, high, tight, might, boat, float, soak, oak, moat

Play 4 corners: put a sound (ng, ee, oa, igh) in each corner of the room. Children to run to the sound they can hear in the word.

Adult directed activity Literacy

Dictation: Can you read the following sentences to your child one at a time. Encourage your child to write down what they can, focusing on listening for the sounds in the right order. Allow your child to do this completely independently – it does not matter if words aren’t spelt correctly as long as it is phonetically correct. E.g. “eet” for eat or your child may miss out a letter in the middle of a word. This is ok!

The goat eats the sweet green grass.

The Troll is bad.

Home reading - child to read  (choose a book from Oxford owl linked to your child’s ability)

Lunch

Mini Maths
Sing the song 5 Little speckled frogs. Provide visuals (doesn’t have to be frogs!) so children can see that each time 1 frog is taken away. Talk to your child about what they can see happening - use language subtract, minus, less, fewer. Put the 5 frogs back on the log and take 1 away. How could we represent this in a number sentence? Show the subtraction symbol and recap on equals. Work together to create number sentence. Repeat but this time have 5 frogs and take 2 away.

Children to record the number sentence.

Outdoor play

Get moving!

Time for some exercise! Can you reach up high and then bend down to touch your toes? Follow this with 10 star jumps.
Repeat 3/5 times.

Think about how you feel now, is your heart beating fast or slow? Do you feel cold or sweaty?

Story time
Talk 4 Writing Story Time

Children to read the Billy Goats Gruff story map using the Talk 4 Writing actions.

Discuss why the ‘Baby and Middle-sized’ billy goats tell the Troll to wait for their bigger/larger brother.  Why doesn’t the Troll just eat them all?
