Talk for Writing

We hope you have been enjoying learning 'The Train Ride' story by watching our video and using the story map and model text.

The story language within this model text that we want you to really be confident using is 'first', 'next', 'after' and 'finally'.

Today we have a fun activity that will help you with that!

We had made some of these story stepping stones to use in Nursery.

The idea of the stepping stones is to lay them out and jump onto them one at a time and say, for example, first I see sheep and cows (then jump onto the next one), next I see an old farm down a bumpety road.

We have attached a document below with the pictures in.  Just draw a large circle onto a piece of paper x 4 and attach the pictures.

You could play around with the story and rearrange the order of the pictures, e.g. first I see a giant hot air balloon up high in the sky.  Remember to use the story language 'first', 'next', 'after', 'finally'.

If you do not have access to a printer you could always draw the pictures onto the stepping stones.  You may even want to have a go at using your own ideas to add to the story.
