Adult directed activity UW  (Understanding of the World)

Discuss the goats in ‘The Three Billy goats Gruff’ story and ask the children where they might find goats. Think about other animals that live on a farm. Help the children to use an internet search engine to find different types of farm animals (goat, sheep, horse, cow, pig, chicken, duck). Children to decide how they want to make a book of farm animals using the pictures they have found on the internet, helping them with the process.

Compare the similarities/differences between the animals: Do they all have four legs? Are they all the same colour?

What type of animal are they? Compare the sizes/shapes.

Home reading - child to read  (choose a book from Oxford owl linked to your child’s ability)

Mini Maths
Watch Numberblocks “Ten Again” BBC iPlayer - Numberblocks - Series 3: Ten Again

Look at the tens frame bus – put some counters/buttons/pasta pieces etc on some of the spaces.  How many more counters we would need to fill the bus? Can we write the number sentence to match the bus? How many different ways can we find of making 10?

(Ensure that your child understands that it doesn’t matter where the counters are on the bus if there are 4 counters there will always be 6 spaces.)

Bird Hunt
Have a look outside for any birds that you can see.
Where have you found them?
Can you see any by your new bird feeder? What do they look like? What colour are they?

Story time
A pre-recorded story from one of our Early Years Team.
