We have been sharing our holiday news of what we have been doing during the half-term holiday. The adults in the setting have been modelling speaking in full sentences. Ms Waters talked about how she made pancakes with her family on pancake day and tried lots of different toppings but the Biscoff pancakes were her favourite!
Phonics - Aspect 4 Rhythm and Rhyme
Singing through some favourite nursery rhymes and pointing out the rhyming words in the song.
We shall be using the 'Phonics Play' website and playing the 'cake bake' game. We shall be looking at the words that rhyme. We shall select a picture and find three words that rhyme with that word, e.g. cat - hat, bat, rat. This is a subscription only game so please contact school for a log in.
Alternatively, you could try the Hickory Dickory Dock rhyming game or print out the rhyming pictures below and have a go at matching them.
RE: Easter - signs of Spring
We shall be looking at pictures from all four seasons and talking about what we can see and how Spring is different to Winter, Summer and Autumn. We shall be discussing what we like and dislike. We shall be putting the pictures in the correct order and naming the different seasons.
We shall be comparing pictures of animals and birds in Winter and Spring and think about how the animals feel. We shall then look more closely at the Spring pictures and go on a walk around the school grounds to see if we can find any signs of Spring.
PSED: Jigsaw, Relationships
We shall be talking about what a family is and the adults will be sharing their own family photographs, talking about who is in the photograph, what they are like and what jobs or hobbies they do. We shall be looking at other family photographs and comparing them to our own families and what we do together as a family.
Maths - Numicon
We shall be getting to know the Numicon Shapes in school and playing a fun game of trying to cover the Baseboard with Shapes by matching the Shapes to the spaces. We shall be talking about the colour, size, pattern, position and number whilst working out which Shape will fit into the space. Some of the Shapes may need to be rotated and flipped over to fill the spaces.
At home you could get to know the Numicon Shapes by printing out the pdf below. If you cut the Shapes out you could play the 'City' matching game.
The genre of listening music for this half-term is 'Country' and this week we shall be listening to 'Country Road' by John Denver.
