Just A Reminder

The children are given phonic cards every Friday, they need to practise these words at home and return them every Friday so they can receive a new card. Please make sure these are returned as we have to replace lost ones.

The children also bring home their mathematics cards every Friday, these are updated every week, these let you know what we will be looking at the following week in mathematics.

We have started to use the seesaw programme within class 6.

You will received a notification when your child has taken a picture of their work to share with you. 

Our poetry workshop

Our first visit to the allotment, we dug out weeds and unwanted grass with our gardening tools. Then we turned raked the mud, dug trenches and planted our seeds. We should see carrots, pumpkins, potatoes, red onions and broad beans growing in our allotment!

Today we have been learning about Anderson shelters and gas masks. Oliver and Mrs Allen tried one on! We have our own WW2 display with artefacts and a spitfire in the classroom!

Today we have learnt how to write an article about an incident that happened in our classroom.....we pretended that our classroom had been bombed, we wrote about how we could make an exciting heading for a newspaper!

We had a visitor join us this morning from nursery - we all said "hello" to the little chick!

In our jigsaw lesson we discussed how different people within school can help us. We then were given a role within school to act out together. Some of us were teachers, dinner staff, office staff and special visitors we have come to school such as PC Patel and the Vicar.

We have been looking at the artist Rousseau, he created paintings of the jungle, we have recreated our own versions of this painting. Interestingly Rousseau never visited the jungle himself but created his paintings from books.

For our topic this term we have been learning about animal classification and animals habitats, today we created our own types of habitats and chose animals they live in these areas.

Our trip to Twycross Zoo, we didn't let the rain spoil our trip we had a brilliant day seeing the different types of animals and learning about their habitats. We got up close with Alice the bearded dragon and Alan the cockroach, we all had a chance to touch these animals we were very brave!

We've taken part in dance bugs today!

We have been learning about positions this week, we have arranged pictures of children in place order, 1st 2nd 3rd 4th...

We had a visit from Rock Steady Music School, we had the opportunity to listen to, play and sing as part of a band.

Our library visit - thank you to all our helpers that joined us for a walk to the library this morning. We enjoyed listening to the books read to us by the librarians and then we had the opportunity to look around the library and read some books ourselves.

We have used 'Now Press Play', we were told the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, then using the headphones we listened to the story again but this time we acted out the story ourselves, we played different characters from the story, we sold our cow for magic beans, climbed the beanstalk, hid from the giant and chopped the beanstalk down with an axe!

Well done to everyone for coming to school this month Class 6, Daffodil's won the attendance award, 98.6%!

Our Christmas Celebration

We really enjoyed having our family and friends join us for our Christmas celebration.

We all worked really hard practising our Christmas songs and we loved performing them to you.

Everyone enjoyed the Christmas activities and we thank you all so much for coming!

In our computing lesson we discussed and used an e-mail. We had the chance to send an e-mail to Father Christmas we were SO excited! Our class was lucky enough to receive an e-mail back from the North Pole!

We love science, we have created another experiement. This time we were looking at materials that would be the best insulator for a snowmans coat. To do this we used various materials, we wrapped a piece of ice in the material and waited to see our results. We wrote a prediction and conclusion.

During this term we have been able to take part in yoga lessons, during these lessons we have recreated stories whilst using our bodies

Active maths - during each week we have an active mathematics lesson this allows us to move around the classroom or outside and use our maths knowledge to complete our activities!

We have been looking at an artist called Andy Goldsworthy, he used natural materials to create pieces of art work, we went outside to create some of our own

We had fun in maths today using our concrete resources, we made numbers that were '1 more' '1 less' and 'fewer'. We also played a maths game using our number knowledge about which numbers are 'fewer' than a certain number.
