Welcome to Class 5
Miss Checkett and Mrs Guthrie
Class 5's WW2 Museum
We had lots of fun preparing for our class museum. Thank you to all the parents, grandparents and family members who came to visit us!
This half term the children are taking part in weekly dance lessons. The dance lessons are based around WW2 and the jive! The children have had lots of fun learning about how people tried to keep their spirits up during the war and are learning a whole class routine. Take a look at some of our dance moves.
Science Inspire Workshop
On the 1st May year 1 held a science workshop for parents. During this we had to investigate which materials would be waterproof, in order for us to build an Anderson shelter that will keep us dry and protect us from the rain.
The children had lots of fun talking and teaching their parents about WW2 and testing the materials.
Dates for the diary
14th May - Library visit (Parents welcome)
16th May - WW2 Museum after school at 3.30pm
24th May - VE Day Party and school disco for year 1 and 2
25th May - Break up for half term!!
During this term the topic was 'Jungle Adventure'. The children explored animal classifications and went on a visit to the zoo! We explored Henri Rousseau and made our own jungle inspired art work.
This half term our topic is 'Land of the Giants'.
We have looked at 'Jack and the Beanstalk' and 'The Selfish Giant'.
Every week we have an 'active' maths lesson which lets us use our maths knowledge in a fun and active way!
This week we have been learning about time. During active maths the children had to dance to some music and then sit down when they thought a minute was over.
Some of the children were really surprised at how long a minute actually is!
The children had lots of fun and demonstrated some very interesting dance moves!
While looking at the traditional tale 'Jack and the Beanstalk' we made our own character puppets! We then used our puppets to retell the story to the rest of the class.
Smartie the Penguin taught us how to be safe on the internet.
Here we are acting out the story.
Take a look at all the exciting things we got up to during the Autumn term!
