A huge thank you and goodbye to all the Class 1 children and parents for making my last term at Marston Green Infant Academy so lovely. I wish you all the best for the future and a very happy Christmas.
Love from Miss Rogers
After a long and tiring few weeks, I'm sure you will agree it was well worth all the hard work to see the wonderful Nativity performance. We were really proud of how hard they all worked and they all did a super job. Below are some pictures of your child in their Nativity costume (apologies if some are be missing, due to absence).
Thank you again to those parents/ adults who attended our reading session. The children really love welcoming you into our classroom where you can see all the lovely work we do. Please note, these sessions run the first Thursday of every month (with the odd exception) from 2.45- 3.00.
Face Painting Day
We had a great time getting all Christmassy during Face Painting Day. We had lots of fun painted as Frozen, snowmen, Santa and Rudolph. Here's a few photos for you all to see!
Thank you for those parents that came to our first reading session. It was lovely to see you reading with your child. If you wish to attend next time, it is the first Thursday of each month (with the occasional exception).
We have had a lovely week learning about Bonfire night, we have done lots of creative firework pictures, and some of us chose to make a Katherine Wheel. Look at our photos to see some of the lovely creations.
Today we went on an Autumn walk around the school grounds. We talked about what we could see in the environment that told us it was Autumn. We looked at the different colour leaves, talked about the weather, listened to the sounds leaves made when we walked through them, spotted conkers and some trees with very few leaves on the branches.
We have had the opportunity to draw pictures of Autumn and write about what we saw.
Last week, we received a very exciting letter, from Miss Taylor, all the way in Tanzania, Africa. She told us about her school day and about day to day life for the children she teaches. We thought carefully about the differences between our lives, and the lives of the children in Tanzania and we thought about how lucky we are.
We emailed Miss Taylor some questions that we wanted to find out such as:
1) When does it rain in Africa?
2) Why are there lots of animals?
3) Where do the children live?
4) What do the children play with?
Miss Taylor responded to our email, discuss the answers we received with your child.
We also decided to write back to Miss Taylor and tell the children some information about us i.e. our names, our favourite toys, who we live with. We are hoping to get a response soon!
Welcome to Class 1's page!
We have had a very busy first few weeks learning one another's names, making new friends, learning the classroom routine and school rules. We have all been doing a super job so far and have made lots of lovely new friendships. We have been busy learning about one another through 'All about me' discussions. We have drawn and painted pictures of one another using mirrors to make our paintings as accurate as possible!
We have now started our first topic- Under the Sea. We are enjoying learning about different sea creatures and their habitat. We have been busy doing lots of drawing, painting, writing, reading and counting, please see the pictures for an insight into the learning in Class 1.
